BCAFFL Rule Clarifications:

here are the notes from the first two weeks:

Coed 7v7:
  • All games start with a coin toss. Winner of coin toss gets choice. Defer to 2nd half, kick or receive. The other team gets choice of side.
  • Kick offs take place from the 15 yard line. Receiving team must be a minimum of 20 yards away.
  • Timing is critical to ensure the transition of the field to 5v5 happens on time. Thus, game times have been adjusted to allow for this. Each quarter is 15 minutes. Clock only stops for a time out, injury or 2 minute warning. Otherwise, it is always running. If teams are blatantly delaying to set up on kickoff after a touchdown, they will be assessed a 5 yard delay of game penalty.
  • Rushers are permitted to approach the QB with their arms raised in an effort to block the pass. Contacting the arm, hand or ball while in possession of the QB will be called roughing the passer.
  • Halftime will be no more than 3 minutes.

Men’s & Women’s 5v5:
  • All games will start with coin toss or rock-paper-scissors to determine who is starting with the ball. This needs to take place prior to the horn.
  • All games will only start at the sound of the horn. Games are not permitted to begin ahead of the horn.
  • The horn will sound TWO BLASTS for the two minute warning and then ONE LONG BLAST to end the games. If the ball has already been spotted prior to the final horn, the team on offence can complete one final play.
  • Rushers are permitted to approach the QB with their arms raised in an effort to block the pass. Contacting the arm, hand or ball while in possession of the QB will be called roughing the passer.
  • Halftime will be no more than 2 minutes.
  • There will be 5 minutes in between games.
  • All game officials are required to report the score from each game to the league official at your field.
